Lever praises Sprague's chronological arrangement and scholarly discussion of sources, technique, and style, illustrating the point through Sullivan's Bayard Building ornament and its base-wall-attic functional division, while noting the catalogue could have included more comparative architectural drawings and a checklist of Sullivan holdings elsewhere.
